C83600 Cast Leaded Red Brass, SAE 40 Alloy Information Page

Atlas Bronze offers C83600 Leaded Red Brass, SAE 40 in Solid Bar Stock, Cored Bars and in Rectangle / Plate. We offer these different shapes in three different Methods of Manufacture. They are available as either a Sand Casting (per ASTM B584), a Centrifugal Casting (per ASTM B271) or as a Continuous Cast Bar (usually up to 12 feet long, per ASTM B505). The Method of Manufacture (or how the material is made) will depend on the following criteria:

  • Overall Dimensions
  • Desired Quantity
  • Total Number of Pounds
  • Specifications Required
  • Desired Lead Time

C83600 Leaded Red Brass is the most common red brass bar and is also called 85-5-5-5 or 85 metal. It contains 85% copper and 5% each of tin, lead and zinc. Typical uses for red brass are for low-pressure valves, pump housings, impellers and fittings.

C83600 TYPICALLY USED FOR:
