C83600 Leaded Red Brass, SAE 40 Alloy Information Page
Understand how C83600 Leaded Red Brass performs, what it’s made of, and where it’s used.
Atlas Bronze offers C83600 Leaded Red Brass (85-5-5-5 bronze), SAE 40 in Solid Bar Stock, Cored Bars, and Rectangles/Plates. We offer these different shapes through three different manufacturing methods. They are available as either a Sand Casting (per ASTM B584), a Centrifugal Casting (per ASTM B271), or as a Continuous Cast Bar (usually up to 12 feet long, per ASTM B505). The Method of Manufacture (or how the C83600 bronze material is made) will depend on the following criteria:
- Overall Dimensions
- Desired Quantity
- Total Number of Pounds
- Specifications Required
- Desired Lead Time
C83600 Leaded Red Brass is the most common and is also called 85-5-5-5 bronze or 85 metal. It contains 85% copper and 5% each of tin, lead, and zinc. Typical uses for this C83600 bronze equivalent are: Valves, flanges, pipe fittings, plumbing goods, pump castings, water pump impellers and housings, ornamental fixtures small gears.
